Prepare Artwork for the Product You Are Printing
The right setup depends on the finished product, size, paper or material, and production method. Before exporting final files, ask SCS to confirm the requirements for your job. A business card, folded brochure, large banner, and 3D model do not share one universal file specification.
Artwork Checklist
- Finished size: Confirm the final dimensions and orientation. Use the correct product template when one is required.
- Bleed and safe margins: Extend backgrounds beyond the trim edge where bleed is required, and keep important text inside the safe area. Use the measurements specified for the actual product.
- Image quality: Supply the best original images available. Check quality at the final print size rather than assuming a small screen image will enlarge cleanly.
- Color: Confirm the required color mode for the product. A screen preview and a printed piece can differ.
- Fonts and logos: Supply original artwork when possible. Confirm whether fonts should be embedded or outlined for your file format.
- Pages and sides: Clearly identify fronts, backs, covers, and page order. Ask before supplying printer spreads for a booklet or catalog.
- Finishing: Identify folds, binding, cut shapes, mounting, and any other requirements that affect the layout.
Review Before Production
Check spelling, names, phone numbers, email addresses, dates, QR codes, page order, and quantities. Make sure the version you approve is the version you intend to print. Tell SCS about any required change before giving production approval.
